The Unified Patent Court (UPC) began its existence as an international organisation on 19 February 2022. It is expected that the court will be fully operational during the first quarter of 2023.
As the UPC further notes, the German deposit will also mark the start of the sunrise period during which it will be possible to opt out existing European patents from the jurisdiction of the Court.
