The event took place at the Giorgio Pisano Hall at Unione Sarda’s headquarters and was streamed live on unionesarda.it.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is one of the most significant technological revolutions of our time, profoundly transforming how companies operate, innovate, and compete in the market. This talk provided an opportunity for discussion on the challenges and opportunities related to AI adoption in the business sector, bringing together interdisciplinary perspectives spanning engineering, computer science, philosophy, law, linguistics, and psychology.

The discussion was moderated by Giuseppe Deiana, Editor-in-Chief of Unione Sarda, and featured distinguished experts from the University of Cagliari, including:

  • Battista Biggio, Professor at the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering
  • Diego Reforgiato Recupero, Professor at the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science

  • Alessia Palladino, Researcher in Legal Informatics at DIEE

From the business sector, the panel included:

  • Roberto Onnis, Solution Architect at Flosslab
  • Gian Amedeo Deplano, EY

During his speech, Roberto Onnis, Solution Architect at Flosslab, provided a technical and engineering perspective on AI, illustrating how this technology can be practically applied to help businesses and public institutions optimize processes, mitigate risks, and maximize benefits.

Two case studies were presented by Onnis, highlighting the expertise of Flosslab and the Net Service Group’s AI Competence Center:

AI-Powered Legal Document Search System
Flosslab developed an AI-driven search system for the Council of State, designed to enhance document retrieval in legal archives. This technology allows magistrates to query the document database using advanced AI models, which analyze user inquiries and match them with the most relevant content, providing rapid and precise search results.

AI for Document Management – Collaboration with the University of Cagliari
The second case study focused on the integration of generative language models (LMMs) into document management software, developed in collaboration with the University of Cagliari. This AI-powered solution enhances document search efficiency, streamlining workflow processes for companies and public administration staff.
